NOCSAE Compliant Labels

Description:  NOCSAE has developed standards that must be followed by entities creating labels for NOCSAE regulated helmets.  

In general, NOCSAE compliant labels, must:

  • utilize Passive UHF RFID.  
  • withstand heat and chemicals associated with the helmet reconditioning process.  
  • be designed for a lifespan of approximately 10 years (the life of the helmet).  
  • carry an identification number that meets the NOCSAE Serialization Standards.  
  • carry a printed Code 128 b identification number that can be read by a one-dimensional bar code reader.
  • carry a printed alphanumeric identification number that can be read by a human.     

Placement:  

NOCSAE identification tags are permanently affixed to the inside shell of the helmet.  They are typically placed underneath the pads in the upper front of the helmet.
